Video Audience Feedback

Apart from just handing out questionnaires I asked people to watch my music video, this was so people were not restricted by the questions I had set out for them and I also did it because some people feel like they can express themselves through speech more.

Promotion

To add to the realism of the products I have created, I have placed them on real life already existing products I believe this will help people visualise the products I've created.

Shooting and Editing Schedule

This document shows my shooting schedule at the top, and and editing schedule at the bottom, showing what I had done and achieved after each and every task.

Even More Improvements to my Website

After some more feedback some people felt like the areas of my website were a bit disorganised and therefore I have brought the box that is advertising the single up in line with the bottom of the blog box, I have also centred the video box above the tour dates box, this also opens up the space in the middle for my website so the picture of the artist has become more visible.

Final Music Video

Here is my final music video ...

More improvements to my website

I have also made changes to my website so it fits in with the theme by using the same colour used on my digipak. I have also changed the phrase out now with a specific date as after feedback people thought this would be more appropriate, However I thought when I changed the colour of the word blog it didn't stand out as much so I changed it back to black.

More improvements to my digipak

I have now decided that the yellow that I had used was too out of place on my digipak, so I have used a colour that appears on the coloured pictures of my guitars. I have now created both of my guitar pictures to be in colour so it does not look out of place and has a continuous theme.

Improvements to my website

After the changes I have made to my digipak, I also wanted to make similar changes to my website so they both stay on a continuous theme.

I have once again changed the colour of the most important text on my website into yellow to link in with the performers name, and to highlight the aduiences attention to the areas I want them to read on my website.

Improvements to my digipak

After some feedback many people we're shocked to see a fully black and white digipak, as they were not aware of any that existed already. They also believed that it wasn't eye catching enough so after this I have made some changed to my digipak.

I have made the text go from white to an eye catching yellow this is because it links in with the performers name Bee. I have also changed the colour of the guitar image on the inside of my digipak.

Speaking in my Music Video

At the beginning of my music video there is some speech that can be heard of the performer. Even though most people would of wanted to cut that out and get rid of it. I have left it there on purpose as it gives the feel of traditional music recording before they had digital technology. It reminds me of a time when music was about been able to sing and play the instruments without special effects of auto tuning, and since this is what I am trying to portray through my video (the performers dedication to the song and the instrument) I felt like it was appropriate to leave it in. This method has been shown by many bands and artists such as ...

  • The Beatles
Taxman (Revolver 1966)
This track has a count in and you can hear coughing before the song begins.

  • Bon Jovi
Damned (These Days 1995)
Hey God (These Days 1995)
In the track Hey God we can hear a brief conversation between the performers before the song begins and in the track Damned we hear a quick converstaion and strumming on the guitar before the song actually begins.

  • Oasis
The Masterplan (B-Side to Wonderwall 1995)
Acquiesce (B-Side to Some Might Say 1995)
In the track The Masterplan we can hear the band getting ready to count in before the track begins and in the track Acquiesce we hear some members of the band have a quick converstaion after they have started to play but before they begin to sing.

Textual Analysis of my ancillary products

Digipak
I believe my digipak to be very conventional due to the front cover having a picture of the artist on a plain background and nothing else apart from the artists name and the title of the album, as shown in the Katy Perry and The Kooks digipak (Blog posted on 6th January 2012). The back cover also follows the conventions of a digipak as it has the track listing of the album on also with a barcode and all the details of the album such as producer and where the album was recorded. When conducting research I found this on many digipak such as Ke$ha and The Kooks (Blog posted on 6th January 2012). Inside my digipak I placed a thank you letter from the artist as I have seen this throughout many digipak’s. I also created a lyrics page (for the single I have created the video for) so the fans can look at them this was shown in the Ke$ha digipak. Also I created a page full of pictures of the artist this was so the fans felt like they were a part of making the album, this element was shown in the Katy Perry digipak.
Website
I believe my website is very effective and functional. I also believe that it appears to look like a real website even though it is only a picture that I have created. First my website keeps the continuity seen throughout my ancillary products with the fonts, style and colours. I have also placed my artist’s logo on the website so the fans would be able to identify the performer. There is also an advert for the artist’s latest album as seen within my website research on Ed Sheeren’s website I have also advertised the artists latest single. There is also an area for the fans to sign in and become a member of the website called little bee’s this is a different slant of the mailing lists that I saw on three of the website I analysed. Blogs that my artist posts go on to the website and even though there is a tab at the top for the audience to go look at the latest post is shown on the homepage as shown on the Jessie J website. There is also a link to my artist’s latest video as this is a conventional feature throughout all artist’s websites. I have also added an on tour section so the audience are able to buy tickets straight away from the homepage. The bottom bar shows the fans been able to follow my artist on social media sites and where they are able to buy the album this is becoming a more common feature and is shown on Ed Sheeren’s website.

This is the final website that I have created for my artist.

Final Digipak

This is my final digipak that I have created for Bee - Leaving The Hive.

Step Eight - Digipak

I have now added the final deatails to my digipak such as the deatails on my disc where I have added the artists name and album name also the artists logo so her fans will be able to regognise her. I have also added the track listing on to the disc which I had noticed on a few albums such as The Kooks and I have also added the small print which mentions copy right deatails and record labels, as seen on every CD.

Step Seven - Digipak

I have now created the extra panel for my digipak, that the fans will see when they open it up. This element features in many digipaks that I have researched such as the Katy Perry digipak I analysed. Also by adding in these pictures it's as if the fans are getting an insight into the artists life and are seeing her creative skills and where her songs are created.

Here is the track listing that I have created for the back cover of my digipak.

1) ‘Bee’ Free
2) Deafening Silence
3) Hope the Sun Shines On You
4) A Turning Point
5) Say it out loud
6) Take Me Away
7) Addiction
8) Sit Still
9) Four Letter Word
10) Remember when
11) Smile

My Black and White Digipak

After audience feedback it seems that people where very shocked to see that I had started to create a digipak without any colour, people believed that it would not be eye catching enough and people where concerned as they had never seen a fully black and white album before however here are some examples showing that fully black and white albums have been made.

Still I am going to add some colour to my digipak to make it more conventional and more eye catching so it appeals to my audience, I am planning to use a yellow so it fits in with my artists name 'Bee' and still keep some black and white elements to the digipak.

Step Six - Digipak

I have not created the back cover of the album, I placed a picture of guitar to follow on the theme that we see inside the digipak. I placed the names of the tracks on the edge of the guitar so the follow the pattern of it's body. I also placed a barcode to make it more realistic and I also put some small text along the side mentioning the artist and producer as I noticed this on the Ke$ha digipak when conducting my reasearch.

Step Five - Digipak

I have now created the front cover of the album, when I took the picture I already had in mind that I wanted to use it as my album cover this is why at one side I have left a lot of the brick wall so I was able to fit the title of the album. I was undecided at first of how to construct the front cover as I had tried the text in black then in white with a black background with the logo attached. However I decided on white text and putting the logo in the lower left hand corner.

Step Four - Digipak

I have now created the page for the extra panel, It has a personalised thank you message from the artist as seen in the kooks digipak that I analysed. It also has my performers actual signiture on it to make it look realistic.
