Textual Analysis of my ancillary products

Digipak
I believe my digipak to be very conventional due to the front cover having a picture of the artist on a plain background and nothing else apart from the artists name and the title of the album, as shown in the Katy Perry and The Kooks digipak (Blog posted on 6th January 2012). The back cover also follows the conventions of a digipak as it has the track listing of the album on also with a barcode and all the details of the album such as producer and where the album was recorded. When conducting research I found this on many digipak such as Ke$ha and The Kooks (Blog posted on 6th January 2012). Inside my digipak I placed a thank you letter from the artist as I have seen this throughout many digipak’s. I also created a lyrics page (for the single I have created the video for) so the fans can look at them this was shown in the Ke$ha digipak. Also I created a page full of pictures of the artist this was so the fans felt like they were a part of making the album, this element was shown in the Katy Perry digipak.
Website
I believe my website is very effective and functional. I also believe that it appears to look like a real website even though it is only a picture that I have created. First my website keeps the continuity seen throughout my ancillary products with the fonts, style and colours. I have also placed my artist’s logo on the website so the fans would be able to identify the performer. There is also an advert for the artist’s latest album as seen within my website research on Ed Sheeren’s website I have also advertised the artists latest single. There is also an area for the fans to sign in and become a member of the website called little bee’s this is a different slant of the mailing lists that I saw on three of the website I analysed. Blogs that my artist posts go on to the website and even though there is a tab at the top for the audience to go look at the latest post is shown on the homepage as shown on the Jessie J website. There is also a link to my artist’s latest video as this is a conventional feature throughout all artist’s websites. I have also added an on tour section so the audience are able to buy tickets straight away from the homepage. The bottom bar shows the fans been able to follow my artist on social media sites and where they are able to buy the album this is becoming a more common feature and is shown on Ed Sheeren’s website.
